FREE LIBRARY LAUNCHES “CHECK US OUT” CAMPAIGN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ADLOOP

PHILADELPHIA May 8, 2013—The Free Library of Philadelphia is excited to announce its new “Check Us Out” advertising campaign, created in partnership with ADLOOP, an arm of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4As). “Check Us Out” is aimed at raising awareness of the Library and encouraging Philadelphians—especially those in their 20s and 30s—to get a Free Library card. Ads will appear on various popular websites, including Facebook and Pandora, as well as on buses, billboards, and subway placards. The “Check Us Out” campaign marks ADLOOP’s first fully-integrated pro bono effort and will serve as a template for future projects dedicated to helping viable, local nonprofit entities like the Free Library raise awareness and support of their essential services.

“The Free Library is incredibly grateful to ADLOOP for sharing their creativity and expertise with us and creating this phenomenal and fun campaign” said Siobhan A. Reardon, President and Director of the Free Library. “The Library offers so many great resources for university students and young professionals, from ebooks and streaming music to engaging events with bestselling authors. We hope that Philadelphia’s twenty- and thirty-somethings will take the time to ‘Check Us Out,’ either in person or online at freelibrary.org.”

The ADLOOP professionals who created “Check Us Out” include Devin Short (Star Group), Lauren Tosi (Star Group), Phil Edelstein (Brownstein Group), Daniel Gellert (Digitas Health), Kate O'Neil (Tierney), Janie Chung Tsang (Mayo Seitz Media), and Nina Armenia (Media and Marketing Group). In addition, photographer Steve Belkowitz and his team donated their time and talent to produce the photography for the campaign.

“The ‘Check Us Out’ campaign is all about reintroducing the library and its resources to the people of Philadelphia,” said ADLOOP president Devin Short. “We wanted to demonstrate the rich cultural resources the Free Library has to offer, while showcasing its modern, digitally savvy employees to debunk misconceptions Philadelphians might have about the traditional, outdated library experiences of old. We think we illustrated that in the campaign.”

The “Check Us Out” campaign features images of several Free Library employees and will run through the end of June.
