With the help of devoted Library customers, Free Library of Philadelphia President and Director Siobhan A. Reardon cut the ribbon on a specialized department for older adults in the Parkway Central Library on Wednesday, August 26. Committed to providing the best possible service to a growing population of senior citizens, Central Senior Services features five laptop computers, an Access Technology workstation, and information resources on subjects such as health, the arts, business, and more. To complement the variety of resources, Central Senior Services will host monthly programs and bring in experts from various fields of interest. The first program in a four-part series on health, Live to be 100!, will take place on Wednesday, September 9 at a 11:00 a.m., and future public programming will address subjects such as navigating the healthcare system, theater, travel, creativity, and the legal needs of seniors.
Central Senior Services is weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is funded by a grant from the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation and federal Library Services and Technology Act funds administered by the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
