Historical Threads: Quilts and the Underground Railroad - Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 4:00PM
What were the roles of quilts when slaves where attempting to flee to the North on the Underground Railroad trails? Using African American oral traditions, participants will explore quilts as women's work, and the cultural legacy they provide. We will also discuss and trace our own family migration patterns, create messages of wisdom for wearly travelers and create a paper quilt to take home. This program is best for anyone over 9 years old.
