Mural Arts in partnership with the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services introduces Southeast by Southeast, a project that celebrates the diversity and resilience of new immigrants from all over the world, focusing on South Philly's growing Bhutanese and Burmese populations. Through the creation of public art pieces and a five month series of workshops, the community will be engaged in activities and discussions that address the impact of resettlement and ways the community can support and appreciate our newest Philadelphians. Mural Arts invites the Philadelphia community of all backgrounds to come together to create artwork, share stories, improve their communities, and find common ground. Imbedded within the community, programming and events will take place from our Storefront at 1927 S. 7th Street.
Funded by: Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services, Hummingbird Foundation, Philadelphia Refugee Mental Health Collaborative
