What is a Kept List?
A Kept List is a temporary list of items that you have chosen from the Library catalog. You do not need to be logged in to your account to create a Kept List, but your list will expire once you leave the catalog. The Kept List is a useful way to keep track of items that you want to check out later—you can print out your list or place holds on the items it contains.

How do I create a Kept List?

First, perform a search for Library materials in the catalog. When you see something that you like, click on "Add to Kept List" just above the title of the item that you are interested in.

Then you may continue to search for other items. Each item that you add to your Kept List will be retained, as long as you do not leave the catalog.

How do I view my Kept List?

Click on "Go to kept list" in the gray menu on the left side of the page to display your Kept List. If you decide that you want to add more items to the list, click on "Return to search results" in the gray side menu, or click on "New Search" to start a new search. As you continue to add items, your Kept List will be updated.

Can I save my Kept List and add to it later, like a wish list?

No, Kept Lists cannot be saved. Once you exit the catalog by going elsewhere on the Library website or closing your browser, your Kept List disappears.

How do I display or print my Kept List?

Once you click on "Go to Kept List", you can choose any of the options from the gray side menu:

  • Display Citation List displays the author, title, publication information, call number, and ISBN.
  • Display Record List displays the author, title, publication information, call number, and ISBN, along with the name of the library or libraries where the item is located and its location within that library (such as the large print section or the children's department). Because this option provides the most information about where an item is located, this is the best display choice if you want to print your Kept List and bring it to the library with you.
  • Display Shelf List displays the author, title, publication information, call number, and ISBN.
  • Display MARC Record displays detailed cataloging information.
  • Remove all items from Your Kept List deletes everything from your Kept List.
  • Return to search results returns you to the catalog, where you may continue to add items to your Kept List.

How do I place a hold on an item in my Kept List?

First, display your Kept List by clicking "Go to kept list" in the gray side menu. Choose the item that you want to put on hold, then click "Place Hold" just above the title of that item. Log in with your Library card number and PIN to place the item on hold, then click on "Please click here to return to search results" to be taken back to your Kept List.
