David Bowie (Andy Warhol)
David Bowie first made his way onto the pop culture radar as the androgynous rock star Ziggy Stardust. One of the best-selling rock acts to come out of the United Kingdom, Bowie is best known for hits such as “China Girl” and “Under Pressure,” a collaboration with the group Queen.
Bowie has starred in film roles throughout his career, including Nagisa Oshima’s Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1984), Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), and as inventor Nikola Tesla in The Prestige (2006) by Christopher Nolans.
