A special message from the President of the Free Library
Updated March 25, 2020
Dear Free Library community,
During these difficult times, our city is uniting in care and concern for each other. Here at the Free Library, your well-being and that of our staff continue to be our top priority.
Due to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, all Free Library locations will remain closed to the public until further notice. We will reevaluate when safety concerns have subsided. Most programs and events scheduled through the end of April will be cancelled or postponed. If a program can be presented digitally, it will be indicated as such on our calendar. This measure extends across the Library system: to our 54 libraries, our Hot Spots, and The Rosenbach. We will continue to reassess the situation and will update you immediately with any adjustments.
All loan periods and holds for physical materials will be extended until we reopen. Please note that book drops will remain closed during this period, and we will be unable to accept new holds. Finally, we will be fully refunding any paid tickets for Free Library and Rosenbach events previously scheduled to occur during this period.
Please continue to check this resource page regularly, visit our blog, and follow the Free Library on social media for up-to-date information (find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram). Thank you so much for your support and your care for each other and our Free Library community during this uncertain time — we look forward to welcoming you back into our buildings soon.
Siobhan A. Reardon, President and Director
