Pulitzer Prize-winner Jane Smiley is the author of more than a dozen “smart, irreverent, and wickedly tender” (The Boston Globe) novels, including Ten Days in the Hills, Moo, and A Thousand Acres. She is also the author of a short story collection, five books of nonfiction, and five young adult novels. Smiley’s new novel follows the fortunes of an Iowa farm family over three transformative decades.

Colm Tóibín is the ”heartfelt, powerful” (Wall Street Journal) author of an impressive list of novels, short stories, essays, plays, poetry, and criticism. His work depicts themes of Irish society, living abroad, and homosexual identity. His novels The Master (2004) and The Testament of Mary (2013) were shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. In 2011 Toibin received an Irish PEN Award. His new novel is a character study of a young Irish widow struggling to support her children.

The “irresistibly charming” (Vogue) Tessa Hadley is the author of four acclaimed novels, including Accidents in the Home, which was long-listed for the Guardian First Book Award; and The London Train, a New York Times Notable Book. Her work regularly appears in The New Yorker. The author of two previous short story collections, Hadley follows narrator Stella from early childhood to the settled comfort of middle age in the “rich, absorbing” novel (Vanity Fair) Clever Girl.
