LAMONT DIXON, NINA SCHAFER & AUTUMN McCLINTOCK
Lamont Dixon is a poet, teacher and performing artist. He has been published in African Voices, Phylaxis, New Poet’s Revolution, and Essence Magazine. He has received the Phylaxis Society’s Award and the John G. Lewis Medal. He is once again our season’s moderator. Monday Poets is greatly enriched by his energy, talent and charm.
Nina Schafer moved to Philadelphia three years ago and started the Unexpected Poetry Project through which she distributes 12,000 poems a year, one-by-one, to strangers she meets in grocery store lines and on the elevator. She teaches poetry and poetry writing to adults who are scared to death of it!
Autumn McClintock is an emerging poet whose first chapbook, After the Creek, was released this past fall. Her work can be seen in the online journal Drunken Boat. She is a member of the Poet Laureate Selection Committee for Philadelphia and a staff reader for Ploughshares. She works at the Free Library of Philadelphia in the Strategic Initiatives Department.
Monday Poets is presented in Room 108 at Parkway Central on the first Monday of every month. It is moderated by Lamont Dixon.
Copies of the featured poets' books may be available for cash purchase after the reading. At program's end, if time permits, there may be a short open-mic session.
