It can be hard being a big brother or a big sister. It can also be hard being a little brother or a little sister. When you’re older, the arrival of a little sibling brings both joy and huge changes. Being the youngest one has its own challenges as well: trying to keep up, for one. And let’s not get started on the challenges of being the middle child! But one thing is certain—having a sibling is a great gift. A sibling can be a partner in crime, a best friend, and a keeper of secrets.

April 10 is Siblings Day, a holiday created to celebrate and honor the relationship between brother and sisters. Celebrate with your sibling(s) and with a good book. Here are a few ebook recommendations:

Real Sisters Pretend by Megan Dowd Lambert
This warm, engaging story, which unfolds entirely through the conversation of two adopted sisters, was inspired by the author's own daughters, whom she overheard talking about how adoption made them "real sisters", even though they have different birth parents and do not look alike.

Peas in a Pod by Tania McCartney
Pippa, Pia, Poppy, Polly, and Peg are quintuplets. Since birth, they've done everything the same—cry, eat, sleep, sit. But as they get a little older, things start to change. Now they want to do things differently—very differently. Can Mum and Dad keep their little girls as matching peas in a pod, or will those five very individual personalities win out in the end? Gorgeous illustrations perfectly complement this simple yet highly entertaining storyline. Sure to be enjoyed by kids and their parents!

I'm a Big Brother by Joanna Cole
Told through the eyes of a new older brother, this simple story lays out all the good things about being an older sibling, and just how exciting it can be to welcome a new member to the family.

A New Chick for Chickies by Janee Trassler
With engaging rhymes and endearing illustrations, Janee Trasler's books are perfect for babies and toddlers to enjoy. Big sisters- and brothers-to-be will be excited to take a cue from the lovable Chickies and cheep for joy when a new baby arrives!

Edgar's Second Word by Audrey Vernick
Hazel can't wait for her baby brother to be born so she can talk and read with him! But when he finally arrives, he just sits there. Even more disappointing, when he finally speaks, his first word is a resounding "NO!" But Hazel resolves to wait some more—despite the ever-increasing NOs—and she keeps on reading aloud to him. Will Edgar ever say anything else? And if he does, what will his second word be? The magic of sharing books is at the center of this hilarious new baby story that will resonate with book lovers and any child who has trouble waiting.

Ninja Baby written by David Zeltser; illustrated by Diane Goode
From the day she was born, Nina was a ninja baby. She obliterated her applesauce. She concealed herself at bath time. And she was training herself in advanced infiltration (of movie night). Nina wants to do everything by herself, until the day her parents bring home a Kung Fu Master (a baby brother). Now with a sibling, Nina will face the one thing she cannot do alone: be part of a family.

Starring Carmen written by Anika Denise; illustrated by Lorena Alvarez Gomez
Meet Carmen! She LOVES the spotlight and applause. She's an actress, a singer, a dancer—a one-girl sensation! She exhausts her parents with her nightly performances and completely overshadows Eduardo, her adoring little brother. But when Eduardo shows his big sister how much he loves her in a way even Carmen can't ignore, will Carmen realize that the stage is big enough for two?

A Squiggly Story written by Andrew Larsen; illustrated by Mike Lowery
Who says there's only one way to write a story? A young boy wants to write a story, but he only knows his letters, not words. His sister says, "Why don't you start there, with a letter?" So the boy tries. He chooses an easy letter to begin with: the letter "I". And to his delight, with just the power of his vivid imagination, and no written words, an amazing story begins to unfold right before his eyes!
