Art Book Club online: The Cartographic Imagination - Part 4
Virtual
This informal group meets in a video-free private chat and image-sharing forum with a librarian from the Free Library's Art Department to discuss and be inspired by the different approaches to visual representation of real or imagined landscapes taken by map makers and artists. Join us if you are an artist looking for new ideas, to get some map-inspired art-making prompts and a place to share images of the resulting work with others or if you are simply looking to learn more about how maps are made.
We'll be using the e-book Cartographic grounds: Projecting the Landscape Imaginary as our primary text and look at digitized examples of maps from the library's vast Map Collection and work by many artists made under the influence of cartography. The e-book and many more are freely available to anyone with a Free Library of Philadelphia card.
Please complete this registration form to receive an email invitation to our Slack meeting space.
New club members can join the non-sequential meetings any time: 12/8, 12/15, 12/22, 12/29 Tuesdays December 2020 from 5:00 - 6:00pm.
