Join us for an evening of contemporary poetry from two poets we are excited to introduce to you through the Monday Poets series which began 26 years ago in the Literature Department. Maya Pindyck is an interdisciplinary poet/artist and educator. The recipient of a 2019 NEA Fellowship in Creative Writing, she is the author of Emoticoncert (Four Way Books, 2016) and Friend Among Stones (New Rivers Press, 2009, winner of the Many Voices Project Award). She earned her MFA from Sarah Lawrence College and her PhD in English education from Columbia University's Teachers College. After living in NYC for nineteen years, Maya recently moved to Philly where she is an Assistant Professor of Liberal Arts and Director of Writing at Moore College of Art & Design.
Julia Kolchinsky Dasbach (www.juliakolchinskydasbach.com) is the author of three poetry collections: The Many Names for Mother, winner the Wick Poetry Prize (Kent State University Press, 2019) and finalist for the Jewish Book Award; Don’t Touch the Bones (Lost Horse Press, 2020), winner of the 2019 Idaho Poetry Prize; and 40 WEEKS, forthcoming from YesYes Books in 2023. Her recent poems appear in POETRY, American Poetry Review, and The Nation, among others. She holds an MFA from the University of Oregon and just defended her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory at the University of Pennsylvania.
