Art Book Club online: Cut Paper
Tue, August 3, 2021 5:00 P.M.
This informal group meets in a video-free private chat and image-sharing forum with a librarian from the Free Library's Art Department to discuss and gather inspiration from the different ways artists have used cut paper in their work. Join us if you are an art enthusiast who enjoys looking at artwork, an artist or instructor seeking new ideas, book recommendations and art-making prompts for working independently and a place to share images of the resulting work with others. Check out this blog post for a summary of some past club activities that include links to image galleries of artwork shared by participants and day-by-day summary docs useful to teachers.
Cut paper is a topic that will have us exploring many manifestations of the medium: from papel picado to kirigami, from collage to scherenschnitte and stencils. Each week we'll look at images from print books and digital resources and we'll have a topical prompt to try on our own. Many books and other resources on the subject are available to borrow from the library, you can start with this list and go from there.
New club members can join the non-sequential meetings any time: Tuesdays, August 3rd, 2021 from 5:00 - 6:00pm until late September.
Please complete this registration form to receive an email invitation to our Slack meeting space.
