Parkway Central Library
Join us on the library's beautiful Skyline Terrace and learn to preserve from one a local pro! In this class, we will make fig jam using traditional methods and green tomato salsa verde with those green tomatoes that refuse to ripen at the end of summer. We will learn the basics of water bath canning, how to choose the best fruits and vegetables for preserving, how to avoid common pitfalls, and what essential equipment is required. You will leave with the experience you need to tackle canning confidently at home. Plus, you will get to take home a small jar of one of our creations to inspire your further pursuits! Pre-registration is required; tickets are $20 per person and available via Eventbrite. Register here!
All proceeds from ticket sales go towards supporting the Culinary Literacy's Center programs for youth, neighborhood engagement, and English language learning. To learn more, please visit freelibrary.org/cook!
