mRNA Vaccines and Covid-19 with Mike Hogan
Dec 1, 7pm Eastern on Zoom and Facebook Live
Michael Hogan received his PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2017. Under the mentorship of Jim Hoxie and Drew Weissman, his thesis work explored the life cycle of HIV and the development of mRNA vaccines for various viruses. Currently, Mike is a senior postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Ike Eisenlohr at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he studies unconventional immune responses that fight influenza infection. In addition, Mike continues to work in the mRNA vaccine field and his publications have helped describe the strong immune response generated by these vaccines. Mike was born and raised in his beloved home state of Rhode Island but has thoroughly enjoyed transplanting to Philadelphia for the past 10 years. Outside of science, his hobbies include singing, bird watching, and cat training.
