Gardening Stories Workshop
Thomas F. Donatucci, Sr. Library
This hands-on workshop for children and caregivers celebrates culturally relevant plants in the Latine diaspora, as well as plants that are native to Philadelphia. Focusing on how they connect us and help to tell the stories of who we are, we’ll learn to identify different plants and their uses, including medicinal healing, culinary uses, and spiritual and cultural traditions. Participants will be able to plant their own herbs to take home.
Workshop faciltiator Alberto Ayala has worked as an educator for many years, including with Iglesias Community Garden, with a passion for connecting children with nature and the ways it heals and sustains us.
This workshop is part of One Book, One Philadelphia.
Masks are strongly encouraged
