Azadi Reading Collective
Walnut Street West
Join the Azadi Reading Collective in revisiting the revolutionary history of the Indian Freedom Struggle, every Thursday 3.30-5.30 PM (EST), starting May 19, 2022. This reading group is part of a year-long commemoration of the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence, which will emphasize the world historic significance of the Indian anticolonial movement, its deep connections with the Black Freedom Struggle in the United States, and its hopeful message for humanity. Through a study of revolutionaries like Mahatma Gandhi and Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., the Azadi Reading Collective hopes to reinterpret the lessons of the Indian and Black Freedom Struggles for our times, as a rising multipolar world strives for positive peace, substantive freedom and principled unity.
This event is hosted at the Walnut Street West Branch and organized by members of the Saturday Free School. You can contact the organizers at azadi.philadelphia75@gmail.com or 217-819-9513 with any questions.
