Latkes for Everyone!
Culinary Literacy Center at Parkway Central Library
The focus of this program will be a hands-on workshop making the most famous Chanukah fried food: latkes. Latkes, or potato pancakes, are simple to make but difficult to perfect. The cooking will be led by Shevy Sputz, of Shevy's Babka Paradise, who will share her expert tips on grating, mixing batter, and frying to a golden crisp, and let us in on some sure-fire shortcuts.
This program will be kosher in an effort to welcome observant members of the Jewish community into the Culinary Literacy Center, but it is open to everyone who loves latkes! Participants will have the opportunity to learn about kashruth (the Jewish dietary laws), Chanukah, and other Jewish traditions.
