This is a Zoom program designed to be viewed at home.
Our guest for this free Zoom program is Kathryn ("KC") MacMillan, who is simultaneously the Producing Artistic Director of the Tiny Dynamite Theater and the Artistic Director of the Inis Nua Theater, both of which are located in Philadelphia. She has worked in our area for almost 20 years and has directed more than 50 plays in her career. To register for this program, please email Dick Levinson at: levinsonr@freelibrary.org .Directing a play that an audience has paid to see may be one of the most challenging jobs on earth. The director must be an expert on every aspect of the production including sound, lighting, set design, staging and acting. This knowledge must be coupled with a clear vision of what the play is really about. While traditionally, the director has the authority to impose his or her will on others, great directors seek to inspire and persuade rather than dictate. This is an exciting moment in theater history in which women are taking on some of the greatest roles ever written for men. In addition, Black and brown actors can now aspire to play any role of interest to them.
