Legacy of Genius: Giacomo Puccini & The World He Made
This is a virtual program presented on Zoom
Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) is considered to be the Father of dramatic opera. He invested as much time in crafting compelling stories and plots as he did in the operas that he composed. In his work, the words and music are united more closely than in the works of thecomposers who came before him. Most Americans have heard his work, whether they know it, or not. On Thursday, March 23rd at 11:00 A.M., our guest for this Zoom program will be David Fox, a Lecturer in Theater Arts and English at the University of Pensylvania. He is the author of 26 essays that appear in the International Dictionary of Opera. He is also a regular contributor to Opera Quarterly and the Kurt Weill Quarterly.
