Love Your Pet Day!

Join us for a pre-Valentine's Day program especially for pet lovers. Family-friendly, animal related events will take place throughout the day. A great way to celebrate the love you have for the furry friends in your life.
10:30 am Little Dog Lost – Picture Book Reading and Presentation by Author, Mônica Carnesi
Come listen to the tale of the brave dog named Baltic and find out how this true story became a picture book. Little Dog Lost: The True Story of a Brave Dog Named Baltic (Nancy Paulson Books, 2012) was selected as a Horn Book Fanfare 2012 Best Book of the Year! Books will be available for purchase and signing – proceeds will benefit PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society).
12:00 – 2:00 pm Valentine Craft
Make a special Valentine card for your pet. If you would like to use a picture of your pet on the card, feel free to bring one or more. All other materials will be provided.
2:00 pm Basic Pet Care and Safety
An educator from PAWS will provide information to pet owners (or those that are thinking about acquiring a pet) about what a dog or cat needs to keep them happy, healthy and safe. Participants will also learn how to be safe around animals, and how to protect themselves from being bitten. There will be an opportunity to meet a few adoptable pets, and PAWS representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the pet adoption process.
Borrow an animal-related book, magazine or DVD using your library card during the day, and you will be entered into a raffle drawing for a chance to win a prize! This is a family Program for ages 4 and up. Space is limited, pre-registration is required.
