Bernstein the Conductor

Now through Tue, January 2, 2018 5:00 P.M.
Fleisher Collection at Parkway Central Library

The Free Library of Philadelphia and the Edwin A. Fleisher Collection of Orchestral Music are pleased to be a part of the global celebration BERNSTEIN AT 100. Kicking off August 25, 2017 and ending August 25, 2019, the Bernstein Office’s worldwide initiative will commemorate the bicentennial of Leonard Bernstein’s birthday: August 25, 2018. A number of Philadelphia institutions have come together, led by the National Museum of American Jewish History and the Philadelphia Orchestra, to spearhead Bernstein festivities. From among Bernstein’s multifaceted talents as a composer, musician, conductor, and educator, the Fleisher Collection has chosen to focus on Bernstein the Conductor. Join us as we examine the legacy of one of the world’s most influential and successful music directors and how his vision ties into to the mission of the Fleisher Collection.
