Stories Alive: Family Story Hour for Incarcerated Parents and Their Children

Stories Alive gives incarcerated parents the opportunity to read and connect with their children during a live videoconference call. Families who participate will get books to take home and keep!

Stories Alive is available to children and caregivers with family members at the Curran-Fromhold and Riverside Correctional Facilities. This program is a partnership between the Free Library of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Department of Prisons (PDP).

WHAT FAMILIES NEED TO KNOW

  • Calls last one hour.
  • Families should arrive15 minutes before the scheduled call time.
  • The Free Library provides the books used during the session.
  • Children will also receive books to keep.
  • Sessions accommodate 1 adult and up to 3 children.
  • Participants must be on PDP's list of approved visitors.
  • ID is required.
  • Sessions are free of charge.
