Engage in conversation with author Lorene Cary about her novel If Sons, Then Heirs, and other works.

The Needham family, scarred by the tragic death of their patriarch and fractured since fleeing the Jim Crow South to Philadelphia,  must now face the gifts and coming back together.  If Sons, Then Heirs is the story of secrets and bonds among kin, and a multi-generational American family in living in the shadow of the Great Migration.

Authors Up Close is a conversation series designed to build connections between local audiences and authors, touching upon universal issues and shared experiences. This program is part of the Free Library of Philadelphia's Center for Public Life.
