Children's Department at Parkway Central Library

GSK Science in the Summer™ is a fun and free science education program sponsored by GSK and administered by The Franklin Institute, which introduces students to the wonderful and fascinating world of science. Through classes held in local public libraries and taught by certified teachers, this program gets kids excited about science with hands-on experiments. Classes are small with 16 students each, so be sure to register early!

• Level I - classes are for children entering grades 2 and 3.
• Level II - classes are for children entering grades 4 through 6.

Saturday, June 23 and Saturday, June 30

Level 1 - 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Level 2 - 1:00-3:00 p.m.

The program is delivered in two workshops offered over two days; and each workshop is two hours long. That's two days of summer fun!

Participating children must be available for both days

Science of Space!

The Science of Space invites children to see the sky above them. Through active, hands-on learning, students explore the sun’s energy, the phases of the moon, human survival in space, and how rockets overcome Earth’s gravity. From here on Earth, we look up and see the sun and moon. From here, we dream of space travel. From here, we achieve liftoff!

Registration starts Monday, May 14 at 12:00 p.m. Please visit to register.
