Come learn how to transform summer’s bounty of fruits and vegetables into simple and delicious dishes -- without all the extra sodium you’d typically find in packaged or restaurant foods. That’s now more important than ever, since nearly half of U.S. adults have high blood pressure, according to new guidelines from the American Heart Association. We’ll show you how to use herbs, spices and citrus to add a burst of flavor that will make your summer produce sing. Participants will prepare and enjoy a menu of Fresh Vegetable Salad with Chickpeas, Stuffed Summer Vegetables, and a sweet dessert of Seasonal Fruits with Citrus and Herbs.
The class is led by Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Kathleen Mathis of Reimagining Nutrition, who will highlight how these dishes contribute to your heart health as well as your enjoyment. We'll wrap up the class with a chance to sample and enjoy all of the dishes, with recipes and nutrition facts to take home.
Preregistration is required via Eventbrite; tickets are $15 per person.
