Intro to Mozzarella

In this workshop, we'll learn about milk, Pennsylvania's local dairy culture, and the basics of pasta filata cheeses. Alex Jones will demonstrate and sample a quick-set mozzarella recipe that's easy to make at home with raw milk and a few simple ingredients.

Alex Jones is a writer, cheesemonger, food educator, and regional food systems advocate who has been working with farmers and artisans in Pennsylvania for the past eight years. She is one-third of the team behind Collective Creamery, a women-powered artisan cheese subscription based in southeast Pennsylvania, and has written for publications like, Edible Philly, Edible Jersey, and Grid in addition to working as a digital contributor for, Philadelphia magazine's food and drink vertical. She teaches cheese appreciation and pairing classes as well as home cheesemaking in and around Philadelphia.
