Set in Mississippi during the Jim Crow era and present day, Sing, Unburied, Sing explores the history of the state’s penitentiary, Parchman Farm, and contextualizes the development of mass incarceration in America.

At this event focusing on Philadelphia's criminal justice system, District Attorney Larry Krasner and Chief Public Defender Keir Bradford-Grey will discuss how their offices are working together to affect policy and reform.

Following their conversation, a panel of formerly incarcerated leaders will discuss advocacy in juvenile justice, reentry services, and local policy.

Panelists include Kempis Ghani Songster, Co-founder of The Redemption Project; Cameron Holmes, Reentry Services Provider; and Reuben Jones, #CLOSEthecreek Campaign Coordinator, Just Leadership USA.

This One Book, One Philadelphia event explores themes in the featured 2019 selection, Sing, Unburied, Sing, by Jesmyn Ward.
