MONDAY POETS at the Free Library of Philadelphia in 2018-2019 includes two open mic programs. One was held in January, and one will be held  on April 1st. It will be dedicated to hearing from poets who may or may not have published their work, but either way want others to hear it. The poets will be heard on a first-come basis, and will be given five minutes to read.

We have heard  poets recite their work from memory, from a book or a sheet of paper, from a phone, display it on powerpoint, play a guitar to accompany it, and on one or two occasions, speak it aloud as it came to them (not recommended, but there is no law against it). The permutations ramify. So let's say this: if you are on time, cheerful, and prepared to read your poetry, you may enjoy yourself on the evening of April 1st in the Skyline Room. And others may enjoy hearing from you--if, to paraphrase Joe Lewis, you do the best you can with what you've got, in five minutes.
