Book Arts Workshop: Color-Compose-Construct
Sat, January 25, 2020 10:00 A.M.
Art Department at
Parkway Central Library
Discover a new three-part approach to the marvelous map book fold. First, simple painting techniques are explored to provide colorful content. Then, artwork is cut and collaged as design elements. Lastly, the structure is folded and painted patterns are applied. A unique work of art has been "created and composed and constructed". Everyone will complete a book and leave with many options for future pieces. No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and possibly a snack!
Sea Macleish became a serious book arts enthusiast/artist after an exhibit at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in 1993. She completed an Art History/Studio Art Master's Degree with study abroad in Florence, Italy, 2013. Another graduate degree in Printmaking and Artist Books culminated in a gallery show in 2015. As a recently retired high school art instructor, Sea delights in teaching art courses and workshops. She has exhibited her work locally and around the state. In 2020, she is opening ‘Seaside Art’ (a studio and school) in Lancaster, PA.
