Bringing back a selection of books and archival materials from the Art Department's research file collections on artists inspired by the works of the great American novelist and poet celebratting their bicentennial this year. Rockwell Kent, Benton Spruance, Frank Stella, Wharton Esherick, Antonio Frasconi and Leonard Baskin all made artwork in response to either or both Mellvile and Whitman.
A section of the exhibit is devoted to bibliographic examples from the library's collections illustrating two chapters of Moby Dick: 32: Cetology and 55: Of the Monstrous Pictures of Whales.
