Neil Shubin | Some Assembly Required: Decoding Four Billion Years of Life, from Ancient Fossils to DNA

Parkway Central Library

Cost: FREE

Evolutionary biologist Neil Shubin was a member of the field team that made the 2004 landmark discovery of Tiktaalik roseae, a 375-million-year-old fossil dubbed the "missing link" between fish and land animals. The bestselling author of Your Inner Fish and The Universe Within, Shubin is provost of the Field Museum and is an anatomy professor and associate dean at the University of Chicago. He is a member of the National Academy of Science, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In Some Assembly Required, Shubin constructs an erudite but accessible account of the great leaps forward in animal evolution that can perhaps even help explain the inevitability (or lack thereof) of our existence.
