Philadelphia Press Index

The Philadelphia Press (1857 – 1920) was one of Philadelphia's oldest major newpapers. This index is an electronic version of a paper index kept by the staff of the newspaper from 1898 through 1912. It directs you to citations for specific articles that appeared in the newspaper. The full text of the article is available on microfilm in the Newspapers & Microfilm Center of the Free Library of Philadelphia.

Enter a keyword or a date, or any combination of keywords and dates. If you use two keywords, you must connect them with an AND or an OR.

If left empty = earliest date in database
If left empty = latest date on file

Currently the online index provides access to the years 1902 through 1912. Additional entries will continue to be made until all years between 1898 and 1912 have been completed.
