The Sioux Chef's Indigenous Cookbook: Book Talk and Tasting

Mon, November 6, 2017 6:00 P.M.
Parkway Central Library

Cost: $0

Join Sean Sherman, Oglala Lakota from the Pine Ridge reservation, and the founder of the company The Sioux Chef for a talk and tasting at Parkway Central Library's Skyline Room. Chef Sean has become renowned nationally and internationally in the culinary movement of indigenous foods and with an ever growing team of indigenous minded peers, is leading a movement to completely redefine North American cuisine through the understanding and utilization of indigenous food knowledge. Through his research over the last seven years, he has uncovered the foundations of the Indigenous food systems. This begins by looking at the regional differences and diversity of foods all over North America. As the details of this search takes form, it's possible to apply this to the evolution of Native American foods through cooking techniques, taking important educations of the past and applying them to the now.

Enjoy light refreshments courtesy of Chef Sean and El Compadre.

Copies of Chef Sean's just-published The Sioux Chef's Indigenous Cookbook will be available for sale in the 1st floor lobby of Parkway Central Library beginning at 5:30 p.m. Please plan to make your purchase before the program begins or during a brief intermission at 7:00 p.m. Book signings begin in the Skyline Room at 7:30 p.m.
