Inaugurated in 1994, the Author Events program at the Free Library of Philadelphia offers the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue with today’s most celebrated voices in the humanities and sciences. Called “the region’s preeminent forum for writers and ideas” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Free Library’s Author Events program has earned three “Best of Philly” designations from Philadelphia magazine (in 1997, 2001, and 2009). Since its inception, the Author Events program has grown and now presents more than 125 authors each year in addition to the Field Family Teen Author Series.
Unless noted, Author Events are held at Parkway Central Library at 1901 Vine Street in Philadelphia, and feature a presentation by the author, a Q&A with the audience, and a book signing with fans. Books are sold on-site. Doors open 45 minutes prior to event start times. No tickets or reservations are required for free author events. For more information, call the Author Events Office at 215-567-4341 or email email@example.com.

Other Author Events Programs
The Field Family Teen Author Series promotes a lifetime love of reading by creating a personal connection between author and student. In addition, students get to know their local Free Library branch, an essential public resource for academic enrichment, recreational reading materials, cultural opportunities, and internet access. School Library Journal writes, “Philly’s Free Library has created a teen program that would make Oprah envious.” For information on how to participate, call the Teen Author Series Outreach Coordinator at 215-686-5372.
