For someone who has never touched a computer before, this workshop introduces participants to the basics of computing and Web browsing and gives them first-hand practice with typing, mousing, using a Web browser, and sending e-mail. Users will leave this workshop with an e-mail address of their own and an increased level of comfort using computers to search and use the internet.

Learn to use Microsoft Word to create documents like resumes, cover letters, and greeting cards. This workshop will teach participants how to create documents from templates and use Word's formatting and layout tools.

Participants will learn how to use this powerful storytelling tool to create gripping slideshows with video, text, and graphic elements, and learn about the best ways to share their presentations online.

Learn how to use Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets, charts, and household budgets. Participants will be introduced to the formulas and keyboard shortcuts to make their spreadsheet work easier.

Job Prep 101—Resume and Cover letters

Need to refresh or fine tune your resume, or start one from scratch? This workshop will teach the ins and outs of writing resumes and cover letters, and participants will leave with a completed resume for their next job application.

Find open positions, craft cover letters and resumes, and land the job of your dreams using the Free Library's Job and Career Accelerator, a database available at every Branch library and even from home.

Google Docs, Google Apps and Cloud Computing

Sick of lost attachments and misplaced files? Participants in this workshop will learn how to use Google Docs, Google Play, and Google Calendar to manage their data "in the cloud." Cloud computing allows users to host documents, spreadsheets, and multimedia files remotely, so that they're accessible even when one is away from their home computer.

Facebook & Social Networking

Hone your profile skills in this workshop, which introduces participants to social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. In addition to connecting to friends, family and co-workers, participants will learn to use privacy settings effectively.

Sharing photos with family and friends has never been easier. Learn how to create profiles and upload photos and videos on sites like Flickr, Facebook and YouTube to share your memories with the world.

Participants in this workshop will learn how to keep their information safe online, and know what warning signs to look for to avoid putting their privacy or security at risk.

Take control of your library! Participants in this workshop will be introduced to a number of Free Library databases, covering topics like job searching, homework help, foreign language study, and historical newspapers, and find out where else to find authoritative and useful information online.

Free Library eBooks, Music & other free downloads

Did you know your library card gives you access to hundreds of thousands of songs, more than 10,000 eBooks and audiobooks? Participants in this workshop will learn how to use the Free Library Web site to download music and eBooks, all for free and all from the comfort of their own home.

Digital Storytelling

Put yourself out there with online multimedia tools! Participants in this workshop will learn how to use these tools to blend audio, video, and text into compelling narratives that can be posted to social media sites like YouTube or Facebook.

Managing Health Information & benefits online

Applying for social services and finding health information will be easy after this informative, hands-on workshop. Participants will learn how to use COMPASS to manage benefits, and Free Library databases like Consumer Health Complete and the Health and Wellness Resource Center to locate health information online.
