Summer Thyme Cooks
Presented by the Free Library of Philadelphia and the Vetri Foundation
A fresh approach to learning about cooking, collaboration and cost
Does your child love food and want to learn more about how to cook?
Do you ever wish you had a helping hand in the kitchen?
Ever wonder how to turn your child on to healthy eating habits?
This summer the Free Library of Philadelphia and the Vetri Foundation will be offering a 4-week series of hands-on cooking classes for students going into Fifth and Sixth grade. Children will learn basic cooking skills, how to read a recipe, shopping tips, and all about the ingredients they’ll be using. Each class will culminate in a family style meal with the students eating the meal they cooked!
We will be cooking in our Culinary Literacy Center using healthy, fresh, budget-conscious ingredients. Students will go home each week with copies of the recipe they used and a grocery bag filled with ingredients to make the meal with their families!
Classes will be small: Five students in each session.
Sign up for this program will be by lottery.
You may only sign up for one session.
