Your Gingerbread Library: Cookie Decoration and Architectural Design
Culinary Literacy Center at Parkway Central Library
Join us for some gingerb(reading) at the Free Library!
What better way to show your love for the Free Library than recreating your branch as a gingerbread house?! In this workshop, open to adults and families, representatives from the Center for Architecture and Design's Architecture and Design Education Program will present on Beaux-Arts architecture and Philadelphia's Carnegie libraries as we decorate gingerbread replicas.
Participants will learn fundamental architectural and design elements as well as the history of the 25 Carnegie libraries, funded by the philanthropist from 1906 to 1930. They will also learn basic piping and decorating techniques; each ticket supplies a large cookie canvas to recreate the iconic facades and display for the holiday season.
