The love for the Spanish language and culture can transcend frontiers! The stories, poems and illustrations of the books can reflect personal narratives that touch our collective unconsciousness.
A team of talented community leaders has organized the Third Latin American Book (#LABF) in the city of Brotherly Love, Friday September 24, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the City Hall Courtyard during the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
The promotional slogan for this year is very inspiring: "Interact with authors and illustrators of incredible books, enjoy activities, and workshops." The fair will feature more than 25 authors (adult, teen, children) of fiction and nonfiction books.
The committee would like to extend the invitation to local families and schools, that would like to promote a multicultural environment of appreciation for languages and cultures around the world.
The mission of the #LABF is to promote reading for all ages. They believe that children who develop the habit of reading from an early age are more successful in their schooling and adult life. Reading in Spanish or bilingual Spanish/English, the "book fiesta" is for participants of all ages.
The committee of Philibros, a Spanish mobile community library that provides books for free, will be creating the "huacalibrero” for this book fair. In addition, the Fleisher Art Memorial's "Color on Wheels" will present a family activity called "Positive Vibes." Additionally, Colombian singer-songwriter Laura Lizcano, the duet "De Tierra Caliente" and the group "Los Bomberos de la Calle" will perform on stage.
The committee members are grateful for the support of the community leaders and the sponsorship of eighteen community organizations, including the Free Library, supporting the success of this annual event.
