Announcing the Launch of a Brand New Website for the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation

By Administrator RSS Mon, September 30, 2024

As the fundraising arm of the Free Library of Philadelphia, the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation is excited to announce the launch of freelibraryfoundation.org — our new standalone website! This new online platform will operate separately from the existing Free Library website to better serve our collective mission and will provide a dedicated space for Foundation initiatives, news, and community engagement.

In addition to a fun and unique experience for guests, with vibrant colors, photos, interactive elements, and an accessible, user-friendly design, our new website will feature:

  • Latest News and Updates: Regular posts about the Foundation’s projects, including the ongoing renovations at neighborhood libraries such as Blanche A. Nixon/Cobbs Creek, Cecil B. Moore, Lawncrest, and Richmond branches.

  • Community Engagement: Details about the Foundation’s community engagement initiatives funded by a $1 million grant from The Pew Charitable Trusts, designed to gather input from stakeholders, patrons, staff, donors, and city officials.

  • Support Opportunities: Information on how to donate, volunteer, or get involved with the Foundation’s work.

  • Events Calendar: A schedule of upcoming events and initiatives hosted or supported by the Foundation.

Help Us Make a Difference in Philadelphia

The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation works to create a vibrant, inclusive community dedicated to lifelong learning and cultural enrichment. Through the generosity of individuals and organizations, we fund many of the Library's beloved, vital programs that make a difference throughout our region, including the Author Series, One Book, One Philadelphia, and Read by 4th. Other programs supported by the Foundation include Special Collections and Exhibitions, the Business Resource and Innovation Center (BRIC), Culinary Literacy Center (CLC), Languages and Learning, Literacy in Early Learning Spaces (LiELS), the Literacy Enrichment Afterschool Program (LEAP), and more!

Your gift to the Free Library Fund helps us support the Free Library of Philadelphia by providing innovative programs and initiatives, countless resources, and critical services to millions across the city and beyond, each and every year. And there are as many ways to support the Free Library as there are reasons to give! Here are just a few:

  • Donate to the Free Library FundThe Free Library Fund supports the work of Philadelphia's public library system, sustaining the Free Library's mission to advance literacy, guide learning, and inspire curiosity throughout the city. While the City of Philadelphia provides the Library's facilities and infrastructure, vital programs are only made possible by private gifts from people like you!
  • Planned Giving: Bequests, charitable gift annuities (CGA), or gifts of plans or policies help ensure that the Free Library will continue to transform lives for generations to come. Planned gifts help grow the Library’s endowment and can be designated to support a specific neighborhood library or program you value.
  • Corporate Giving: Opportunities for corporate involvement at the Free Library are as diverse as our programs, providing multiple options for increased visibility, employee engagement, and impact on issues ranging from youth literacy to workforce development. The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation is an Educational Improvement Organization (EIO), and corporations that make a donation are eligible to receive 75% of their contribution in tax credit.
  • Tribute Gifts: Gifts made in honor or memory of someone special pay tribute to your loved ones and the Free Library of Philadelphia. For tribute gifts of $50 or more, the Free Library will place a bookplate bearing the honoree’s name in a piece in our collection.
  • Matching and In-Kind Gifts: Matching gifts through an employer’s matching gift program doubles your impact. The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation also accepts donations of material goods and services (non-cash contributions).

We invite you to visit freelibraryfoundation.org to learn more about The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation, how we positively impact the City of Philadelphia for all residents, and ways to get involved. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn to stay in touch!

The Free Library is one of the most important educational and cultural institutions in Philadelphia. While the City of Philadelphia provides public funds for the operations of the Free Library, it is through the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation and the generosity of private funding from individuals, foundations, and corporations that the Free Library is able to offer many of the Library’s incredible programs and activities that advance literacy, guide learning, inspire curiosity throughout the region, and help deliver on the promise of an equitable future for all of Philadelphia’s children, families, and communities.

Hey! I was wondering if this library has a puzzle section, and if you'd accept puzzle donations! I'm trying to downsize my collection a little and wanted to ask before taking them to Goodwill Thank you for your time!

Hello! Reaching out to see if you have any volunteer opportunities. I'm specifically looking for something involving children, like reading to them or leading arts and crafts. I would love to get involved if so.
