Dear Sir/Madam I am enquiring about the visit on Vice President John Nance Garner who visited Philadelphia in 1936. I do not know the exact date of this visit. My granduncle Thomas Clifford was involved in that visit as he was a policeman. I would like to get a copy of any information that you may have about that visit. If there is a fee, please let me know. Many thanks for attending to this request. Yours truly Michael Clifford

Born and raised in Trenton, NJ. Most relatives lived in Philly. We LOVE Philly. Best used book stores in the nation! And I like the accent. Trenton accent is different from Philly and NYC accents. Trenton accent is in the PHRASING, not in the pronunciation. My grandfather and dad were born in Philly (dad, on Bread St.). Grandfather was a teamster, when teamster meant driving a cart with horses. Love Philly journalism: it tells it like it is. Chicago used to be good too. Years ago, in Wisconsin, we subscribed to the print edition of the Inquirer and always enjoyed it. Philly writing is punchy but not antagonistic. My grandmother sewed costumes for the first Mummer's Parade in 1901. We connect with Philly and would love to read the Inquirer, etc. online. (The N.Y. Times has gone downhill, like leftover salmon.) When I talk to receptionists on the phone, I can tell from the accent whether they're from Philly; we have good chats.
