Spring Online Reading Challenge

The Free Library’s Spring Reading Challenge is active now through May 15!

Engage your brain in fun activities, alone or with family and friends. Sign up online, then track your reading journey using the website or the free Beanstack Tracker phone app. The Beanstack Tracker app includes an in-app reading calendar, a timer, and a barcode scanner for easy logging! Download the app for iOS and Android devices today!

Here’s how the online reading challenge works:

  • Register to earn your first badge.
  • Log reading minutes or completed books for a chance to earn mystery raffle prizes.
  • Try out fun activities and write reviews!
  • Find new reads and gain new skills.

Once you’ve signed up, browse popular books from a library curated book list, specialized for every age track, or check out peer book reviews to see what other people around the city are reading. You can even add your own book reviews!

The online reading challenge can be completed individually, as a family, or as a small group or class. To track your personal reading minutes or to log books, sign up for the reading challenge for your age range. This option also allows you to read and write book reviews for your peers, participate in individual writing challenges, and complete learning activities on your own. Parents and caregivers, educators, school-age children, teens, and individual adults are welcome to register for our four different age tracks: birth-5 years (babies, toddlers, and pre-K), 6-11 years (school-aged children), 12-18 years (teens), and 19+ (adults).

If you have children and teens who want to participate in more challenging learning opportunities or as a group, sign up for the homeschoolers and classes program. Create a group reading goal and track how many minutes the whole group reads each day. Youth can work collaboratively to earn activity badges, complete writing challenges, and write book reviews.
