Picture ebooks Highlights | Dancing Feet and Farmyard Beat

By Monica C. RSS Thu, May 21, 2020

We are back with another Picture ebook Highlight, a series where we put the spotlight on an ebook that you can read at home, using the Free Library's Digital Media portal. And bonus: we will actually be talking about two books today!

We are all feeling a bit stir crazy at home. So how about using all that pent-up energy for some fun reading AND dancing right now? We can do that by reading and dancing to Dancing Feet and Farmyard Beat, both titles written by Lindsay Craig and illustrated by Marc Brown.

Dancing Feet
Introducing a get-up-and-dance toddler book-so catchy and rhythmic, you’ll almost want to sing it! The author’s rollicking text features funny sound words (Tippity! Creepity! Stompity! Thumpity!), dancing animals, a singsong beat, and a guessing element just easy enough for preschoolers to anticipate. So grab a partner and tap your feet to this read-aloud picture-book treat.

Farmyard Beat
Join us in a toe-tapping farmyard dance-a-thon—perfect for toddler and preschooler read-alouds! As soon as the sun goes down, the animals are up! ("Sheep can't sleep. Sheep can't sleep. Sheep can't sleep 'cause they got that beat!") Before long, there's a giant farmyard dance party, complete with funny animal sounds. But what happens when all the racket wakes up Farmer Sue?

What are you waiting for? Check out these ebooks and dance!

Be sure to check the Overdrive Kids eReading Room, for these titles and many more being added!
