It’s Library Giving Day!

By Laura K. RSS Wed, April 7, 2021

This National Library Week, we have reflected on the many fantastic resources, programs, and events the Free Library offers. This past year, staff faced the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic by expanding virtual programs and services, creating a telephone helpline service, offering contactless pickup of materials, and so much more.

Today, in this spirit of reflection, and to commemorate the work our staff is doing to support our community during this time, we are observing a special day of philanthropy: Library Giving Day! In its third year, Library Giving Day was formed to celebrate all the incredible work done in library systems throughout North America.

The Free Library of Philadelphia serves as a cornerstone of our City, and a gift today will help fund impactful programs at every one of our neighborhood libraries. If you can, please consider donating to the Free Library Fund today.

Today is the perfect opportunity to show your Free Library love. Use the hashtag #LibraryGivingDay on social media and tag @FreeLibrary to share your favorite memories at the Free Library, what library resources you are using at home, and what you are looking forward to most when full in-person services resume.

This past year has shown us the strength of community and the importance of working together. We have found ways to connect and learn from one another both virtually and safely in-person. On this day of goodwill, join us in this movement to celebrate the Free Library and our communities!
