Join the Adult Literacy Book Club, presented by the Free Library's Languages and Learning Center and Beyond Literacy. Improve your reading skills while reading and discussing interesting books!
Don't always have a lot of time to read? No problem. The club only covers a few chapters at each meeting so you will have plenty of time to finish the book.
Our latest book selection is Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas. It can be borrowed from our catalog in book format, as well as ebook and audiobook versions available from Overdrive.
Concrete Rose is about seventeen-year-old Maverick Carter. With his gang legend father in prison and his mother working two jobs, he helps the only way he knows how: slinging drugs. Life’s not perfect, but Maverick’s got everything under control. Until he finds out he’s a father.Concrete Rose is a prequel to Angie Thomas's award-winning book The Hate U Give.
The Adult Literacy Book Club will meet every other Thursday from 5:00 p.m.- 6:30 p.m., starting July 8.
"I really enjoyed the book club and it improved my reading." - Donald Jones, Adult Literacy Book Club member
