In Other Awards News, National Book Critics Circle Announces 2007 Finalists

This past Saturday, the National Book Critics Circle announced the finalists for the 2007 NBCC Awards in all six categories--fiction, nonfiction, poetry, biography, autobiography, and criticism--as well as the recipients of the Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing and this year’s Ivan Sandrof Lifetime Achievement Award . Among the finalists--winners will be announced on March 6--are Julia Alvarez, Edwidge Danticat, Junot Diaz, and John Richardson, all of whom paid visits to the Free Library in 2007.

Edwidge Danticat's memoir Brother, I'm Dying is a 2007 NBCC Award finalist in the autobiography category. In 2004, her novel The Dew Breaker was a finalist in the fiction category.
