Virtual Grant Reading Lab
Virtual
Looking for feedback on a grant proposal? Join us for a grant reading session and receive feedback from peers on a grant you are tackling. You will also have the opportunity to provide feedback on others' work.
What can I expect from this session?
After a brief overview of best practices and ground rules, you will be split into small groups utilizing Zoom breakout rooms. Group size will depend on the number of attendees. Once in the breakout rooms you will briefly introduce yourselves and from there you will take turns reading each other's grants and providing feedback. We are excited to offer this session for the first time so your patience is appreciated if we hit any bumps.
What should I bring to be read?
It is recommend that you bring a writing sample that is two-pages or less. This can be a section of a grant proposal (i.e. executive summary), an LOI, or part of an unsucessful grant application (so you can improve your proposal for next time). Please be prepared to share your grant writing sample via link (i.e. Google Doc) or share your screen so the group can read your writing sample.
Who should attend this session?
Anyone who is interested in getting a second (or third, or fourth) pair of eyes on their grant writing! Feedback from someone outside of your organization can be invaluable to improving your grant writing. Peers may point out things like confusing jargon, unclear sentence structure, or whether or not you are telling a clear story. It won't all be bad though! You'll also hear about the strengths of your grant writing too. This is also a great session for anyone interested in providing constructive feedback to their peers.
This workshop is part one in our three-part grant writing series. Join us for Introduction to Finding Grants on April 28 and Introduction to Proposal Writing on May 3.
Advanced registration is required. Please click here to register. Once you have registered you will receive a confirmation email and meeting details from Zoom. This session will not be recorded.
