Join the Free Library of Philadelphia's Education, Philosophy, and Religion Department for a screening of Isaac Julien's 1995 film Frantz Fanon: Black Skin, White Mask. This documentary focuses on the life and work of psychoanalytic theorist and activist Frantz Fanon, who was born in Martinique and whose work influenced civil rights and anti-colonial movements worldwide.

This film is part of our two-part Summer Film Series. Come along with us this summer as we alternate between two film programs: In Black Luminaries we are showing films about writers and scholars of color who were influenced by philosophy, psychology, and religion and had a significant impact on, while not always being regarded as primary contributors to, these fields. In Bad Habits we will show a triptych of international films from multiple decades that examine the lives and passions of nuns as they wrestle with their faith, femininity, and identities.
