Join the official launch of the Year of James Baldwin, a year-long celebration in Philadelphia of the 100th birth anniversary of American essayist, novelist, playwright, poet, and activist James Baldwin. Through citywide reading groups at community centers, churches, high schools, universities, and libraries; year-long events and film screenings; and a podcast, the Year of James Baldwin will celebrate the relevance of Baldwin’s life and ideas for a new America that we must achieve. This launch event will include speakers, documentary footage screenings, and intercivilizational cultural performance. Refreshments will be served.
This event will run from 11am-5pm and will take place in the Skyline Room, 4th Floor, Parkway Central Library, accessible from the main elevators. RSVP is requested at: bit.ly/year-james-baldwin
