Madan Sara
Literature Department at Parkway Central Library
Women known as Madan Sara in Haiti work tirelessly to buy, distribute, and sell food and other essentials in markets through the country. Despite the obstacles faced by the women working in a sector that lacks investment, infrastructure and state assistance, the Madan Sara continue to be one of the most critical parts of the Haitian economy and the country itself.
In this must-see documentary director Etant Dupain shares the story of the Madan Sara. These amazing women put their children through school and house their families, ensuring a better life for the generations to come.
Join us for a free screening of Madan Sara directed by Etant Dupain. Producer Lulaine Childs will hold a Q&A after the showing.
The screening will take place Saturday October 5th at 1:00PM in Montgomery Auditorium. This event is free and there is no need for registration.
